KETAMINE-ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR INFUSIONS (KAP-I): GUIDELINES FOR PRACTICE

Abstract

Ketamine has shown remarkable promise in mental health treatment, yet few guidelines have been published for the purpose of assisting psychological providers with key points to consider when delivering therapy concurrently with this procedure. This dissertation explores the effects of ketamine, the historical aspects of psychedelic treatment, and how to deliver therapeutic interventions while participants are under the influence and makes suggestions around how to deliver treatment to improve patient outcomes. Guidelines related to assessment, appropriateness, and timelines are discussed, along with logical and theoretical underpinnings, psychopharmacological information, and appropriate treatment strategies for practice are proposed.

Understanding the STAR Method

The STAR Method—Strategize, Teach, Amplify, Resolve—elevates Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy for Infusions (KAP-I) into a structured path for healing. Designed for those navigating trauma or isolation, it offers a clear framework: Strategize defines goals, like rebuilding social ties; Teach introduces skills, such as recognizing trust signals; Amplify builds momentum from small successes; Resolve addresses lingering emotional blocks. Research highlights ketamine’s impact and STAR enhances this with purposeful steps. It’s neuroscience backed by strategy, not a fleeting fix.

Developed through extensive clinical study, STAR targets the lasting effects of challenges like post-COVID disconnection. It’s a practical tool for anyone seeking more than temporary relief—think veterans rediscovering community or individuals reclaiming confidence. The method bridges science and real-world results, offering a way to rewire responses to life’s toughest moments. For those ready to move forward, STAR provides a proven approach—logical, focused, and built for lasting change. It’s about connection, resilience, and a fresh start, grounded in evidence and designed to deliver.
