My Story

About Dr. Tedder

Dr. Tedder is a clinical psychology post-doctoral resident and forensic evaluator with over a decade of experience in psychological assessment, therapy, and forensic risk evaluations. First licensed in 2012, he has worked extensively in clinical, forensic, and neuropsychological settings, specializing in complex cases that require sharp insight, direct communication, and evidence-based analysis. Whether working with individuals in therapy, conducting high-stakes forensic assessments, or mentoring future clinicians, Dr. Tedder’s approach is strategic, results-driven, and rooted in real-world application.

His expertise spans multiple domains, including forensic psychology, neuropsychological assessment, adolescent behavioral treatment, substance use intervention, and trauma-informed care. He has worked in adolescent treatment centers, conducted CPS evaluations, and provided therapy for individuals navigating addiction and recovery. His forensic work involves evaluating criminal behavior and risk assessment, helping courts and attorneys make informed legal decisions. Dr. Tedder’s approach blends actuarial tools, psychological testing, and clinical judgment to provide a full-spectrum understanding of each case.

Dr. Tedder also provides specialized forensic assessments for family court cases, including risk evaluations, parental fitness assessments, and psychological evaluations related to custody and child placement decisions. His expertise helps judges and attorneys navigate complex cases by offering clear, evidence-based insights into parenting capacity, mental health considerations, and child welfare concerns. With extensive experience in CPS evaluations and forensic risk assessments, he delivers thorough, defensible reports to support informed legal outcomes.

Beyond clinical work, Dr. Tedder has a passion for education. He served as a professor of forensic psychology at Texas State University, where he brought the subject to life through storytelling, practical application, and deep dives into the intersection of psychology and the legal system. Teaching reinforced his ability to break down complex psychological concepts into clear, engaging, and actionable insights—a skill he brings into therapy, forensic evaluations, and professional training.

Dr. Tedder’s expertise has been featured in CBS News Austin, Fox 7 News Austin, and Intervention (S25, E15), reflecting his ability to provide meaningful psychological insights in high-profile cases. A Navy veteran and former Texas House candidate, he brings a structured, analytical mindset to both clinical and forensic work. He has a particular interest in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and men’s mental health, especially within Hispanic, Latin, and South Asian communities, where cultural expectations often create unique mental health challenges.

At the core of his work is a reality-based, no-nonsense approach to therapy and assessment. He doesn’t believe in sugarcoating—his direct, practical style helps clients confront challenges head-on, develop insight, and implement real change. Whether working with adolescents struggling with identity and behavior, adults navigating executive dysfunction, or individuals processing trauma, his goal is always the same: to help people cut through the noise and move forward with clarity and confidence.

When he’s not working, Dr. Tedder enjoys maintaining his aquariums, spending time with his spouse, and their lively household of pets—including two dogs, two cats, and a collection of fish. His fascination with structured systems, from neuropsychological assessments to aquascaping, reflects his innate drive to create balance and clarity—both in life and in his work.

If you’re looking for a forensic expert, an experienced clinician, or a therapist who tells it like it is, Dr. Tedder is the one to call.
